One major horizontal crease (magazine was once folded in half); a dampstain to top margin of many pages, minor area of chipping (bug chew?) to bottom outside corner of final pages; staples rusty and center sheet pulling loose from same -- call it "good." The front cover is separated from the flyleaf but the binding is still intact. There are some stains and P.O.'s name, but no torn pages. The author also wrote the Ivory Snuff Box and other books. This is a detective story about the disappearance of a man on a cruise. Proceeds of the sale of this book benefit environmental education and restoration.

The exterior shows some areas of light soiling, the edges and corners also show light bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge cracks. There is some foxing and smudge marks present but this is mainly on the end pages and pastedowns. The front pastedown contains a 1907 gift inscription and both the pastedown and front end page contains an ink stamp showing the book belong to the attorney Charles A. Locke of Pittsburgh PA. No other handwriting found in the book. The only other issue is at page 138/139 where there is a brown rectangular mark from where an old newspaper clipping sat for many decades. The clipping was placed inside a glassine envelope so it would not affect the pages anymore.
