Frontispiece is b & w. 7 other plates of illustrations are turquoise, b & w. 223 pages. Portrait on DJ front panel is brown, b & w. Top edge of cover and bottom edge of spine have darkened. Pages and endpapers are lightly tanned. DJ is rubbed at corners and top end of spine panel. Bottom edge of DJ spine panel has a shallow chip. Top edge of front panel of DJ has a 1/4 in. and a 1/2 in. closed tear; also, a 1 1/2 in. crease line parallels the top edge. Back panel of DJ has shelf wear soiling. Scans e-mailed upon request.

Etat : Good. 223 pages. Black pictorial dust jacket over green cloth. No Edition remarks within. Inscription to front endpaper. Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with moderate foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn with slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped and spine ends are a mildly crushed. Tanning to spine and edges. Book has a forward lean. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Tanning to spine and edges.

The dust jacket has a closed, 3" long tear on the fron t panel that has been taped on the verso. Creases along this tear. The rear panel has a 1" long closed tear that has also been repaired on i ts verso. Rubs to the jacket's corners and folds. Dust soiling to the rear panel. Its spine is lightly faded and has a 3/4" tear at its head .

Blue and cream cloth, gilt titles to spine, no dust jacket. 223pp. With 8 excellent illustrations in plates by P.Youngman Carter (mostly colour block prints). Beautifully printed book. Very Good. Light handling marks to cloth, bumped corner. Largely clean pages, a few small marks.

Jacket has a small rear panel chip at the corner, where there are also minor light wrinkles and a gently closed tear repaired with archival tape internally. The jacket is quite attractive in the plastic cover provided. Gerhardie's early works are extremely scarce, and this is a surprisingly well preserved copy.
