Colour-printed softcovers, cover art birds-eye image of the Parsons Paper Co. factory, blue & red borders, NF, w/ two printed samples, and preserving original mailing envelope to Cornelius Arthur Nichols (1882-1966) a printer working in Chili, New York, at a printing shop prior to World War I, postmarked Jan. 24, 1906. First edition, thus, of this attractive paper sample catalogue for Old Hampden Bond papers marketed for bonds, letterheads and other commercial work, in a wide range of colours in 16 and 20 lb. weights, with 500 sheets to the ream. By 1906, Parsons Paper Co. had established itself as the largest paper company in the U.S. producing nearly 90% of the paper in the U.S., and continuing to reject the trend of utilizing treated wood pulp in favor of mostly cotton rag for the high quality bond paper. The company operated until 2005 when it was the last paper mill in the city of Holyoke, producing parchment paper, calendar paper, and watermarked bond for such clients as MIT, Harvard & Yale, and destroyed in a fire in 2008.
