This second edition of 1902 is fair only, with the binding separating, along with the front free endpaper. Minor fading and wear on the covers. The rear free endpaper has been torn and crudely repaired with cello tape. A gift inscription to the initial child owner is in ink on the ffep. The page are all printed on one side only, and there are a few child's drawing on some of the blank pages. CH25.

Med förteckning över utställningar 1890-1914 där Zorn ställt ut skulpturer (och vilka), litteraturförtecking, samt person- & föremålsregister. Den enda boken med skulptören Zorn som ämne. Den utkom med anledning av en utställning på Zornmuseet i Mora 15 maj-14 september 1999. Det var som ung träsnidare som Anders Zorn tog sina första steg på konstnärsbanan, och han fortsatte sedan livet ut att vid sidan av måleriet utforma skulpturer i trä, brons och även ädla metaller. Många var i mindre format eller utgjorde plastisk dekor på nyttoföremål av olika slag, vilket var typiskt både för tiden och för dalakulturen. Tillkomsten av hans enda monumentalverk - Gustav Vasastatyn i Mora - beskrivs utförligt, och även hans övriga kända skulpturer presenteras och avbildas i sina olika versioner, med uppgifter om tillkomst och kända exemplar. The History of the original person who owned the book, and his nephew, who he gave the book to in 1939 written to the front paste down and free end paper. Minor sporadic foxing to margins. White vellum spine, black paper covered boards. White paper label with black lettering to front cover. Oblong format, 8.75ins x 10.5ins, unpaginated. Comprises 2 blank pages after the endpapers, an illustration of a stonemason, title page with two vignette illustrations, 2pp text, 13pp illustrations,2pp text, 9pp illustrations, list of recent marble contracts, vignette "finis" page, 2 blank pages. All pages printed on recto only. Of the 22 illustrations 16 are by Walcot and 6 by Brangwyn. They depict the Italian quarries and the firms Kennington works. Small stain to the base of the front pastedown and front free endpaper. Vellum spine darkened. Small (one inch ) split to edge of spine. Boards rubbed to corners. Pinprick hole to paper label. Internally VG, externally G to G+. Scarce.

Medan tvisten om författarens samhällskritiska pamflett "Den Röda Boken" ännu pågick utgav Napoleon Berger ytterligare en skrift, denna gång under pseudonymen Krigsholm, som anspelar på åklagarens namn - Fredholm. Även "Den marmorerade boken" åtalades, men Berger undgick genom att fly utomlands. Han slog sig ned i Schweiz, förespråkade marxistisk socialism och samarbetade med Engels. Då tvingades han i exil ännu en gång och flydde till USA, där han startade ett litet tryckeri i New York och bl. a. tryckte Amerikas första tidning på svenska, "Skandinavien".

Original blank page before the title page has handwritten inscription, dated 1774, saying received one shilling for binding this book. Previous owners signature to front pastedown. Apart from the defects noted this is a VG copy of a scarce title.

[iv] + 6 sid. + 61 konstplancher (några i färg), två helsides interiörfoton samt förteckning över mottagarna av 96 av upplagans 100 numrerade exemplar. Den danske affärsmannen och konstsamlaren Christian Tetzen-Lund (1852-1936) avyttrade 1910 sin samling av äldre konst för att i stället bygga upp en mycket framstående samling av modern skandinavisk och fransk konst, inte minst av Cézanne, Matisse och Picasso. Samlingen fick stor betydelse för de nordiska konstnärerna, som här fick förmånen att ta del av det modema måleriet som de under krigsåren 1914-18 inte kunde se i Paris. - - - En monografi om den berömda samlingen utkom 2022, "Tetzen-Lunds konstsamling", som berättar om samlingens historia, bl. a. om det misslyckade försöket att donera ett antal verk till Statens Museum for Kunst. - - - "Blandt alle danske kunstsamlinger gennem tiden har en enkelt opnået næsten legendarisk status, nemlig den rige samling af fransk kunst som Christian Tetzen-Lund opbyggede fra 1916 og blot otte-ni år frem. Kernen var 23 hovedværker af Matisse samt et tilsvarende antal værker af Picasso. Dertil kom en perlerække af malerier af Derain, Rousseau, Kandinsky, Braque og mange andre. I alt ca. 600 værker købte Tetzen-Lund i en hektisk fart og med usvigelig dømmekraft". - - - During the First World War Scandinavian artists were living in Copenhagen in anticipation of the advent of peace. The capital of Denmark represented a milestone on the road to Paris. From Sweden came Isaac Grünewald, Sigrid Hjertén, Otte Sköld, Kurt Jungstedt, Tor Bjurström, Einar Jolin and Gösta Nystroem. Karl Isakson, although of Swedish origin, lived in Copenhagen, completely assimilated in Danish art life. From Norway came Per Krohg. There were also many other artists of varying importance. The art school run by Astrid Holm, who had worked in Matisse's studio, provided a centre for the young artist. Many of the Scandinavian artists received their instruction at Zahrtmann's school of art, and this liberal institution was continued by Johan Rohde. The older Swedish artists were close to the tradition of Matisse's teaching while the younger ones started experiments in futurism and cubism. Information concerning the most recent art programmes and styles came from the important private collection of art belonging to Christian Tetzen Lund, who used his wealth to improve his collection. Among older artists he owned works by Delacroix, Daumier and younger representatives among the impressionists, the cubists, and the futurists. The collection at Palægade 6, close to Kongens Nytorv, was open to the public on Thursdays from 1917 onwards. In 1920 the collection of Michael Stein was bought by Tetzen Lund. In the midtwenties parts of the collection were sold to the Barnes Collection in Philadelphia, USA. The Tetzen Lund Collection from 1917 onwards, kept artists from Denmark, Norway and Sweden informed of the most recent international works of art. This was a most important source for Scandinavian avant garde". - - - The rare plate book devoted to "Chr. Tetzen-Lund's Collection of Modern French Art", which included a series of imporant works by Matisse and Picasso. With 61 full-page reproductions, a few in colour. Half linen, small marginal nick and insignificant corner crease to final plate, some light damp waviness to lower outer corner of final few leaves. Limited to just 100 numbered copies, this is no 76, presented to Swedish artis Vera Nilsson. Fine.

Carlsunds eget exemplar i lätt nött skinnband med upphöjda bind, blinddekorerad och sparsamt guldornerad rygg, infärgade delvis blekta titelfält, övre guldsnitt, enkel ramlinje i guld på pärmarna och inre denteller (Ivar Forsbergs bokbinderi). Tryckta omslagen medbundna. Ytterfalsarna nötta, den främre ngt sprucken. En tidigare variant av författarens förord är bilagd i korrekturavdrag med Carlsunds anteckning: "det censurerade förordet". Vidare är bifogat ett tidningsurklipp med vidhäftad blankett från Svenska telegrambyrån med en recension av boken ur "Biblioteksbladet" där Carlsunds namn är understruket. Däremot utgick även Carlsunds tack till Gösta Olson för att denne försett honom med "en eller annan droppe av systemets råttgift, vilket hållit livsandarna vakna och snuvan borta" under arbetet med boken.
