Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. We Create the Reality We Live In maps a profound civilizational crisis: we are trying to navigate a hyper-complex, digital global village using an ancient nervous system engineered for stone-age survival. Throughout our lives, no institution teaches us how the three-pound organ between our ears actually processes reality. Left illiterate about our internal machinery, we become prisoners to an evolutionary script we don't even know we are readinIn this groundbreaking volume, a lifetime of unique perspective from monastic contemplation and chaplaincy pairs with cutting-edge neuroscience to expose the ultimate human blind spot. When modern life bombards us with relentless triggers, our primitive brain panics, demands a story of blame, and treats ideological opponents as literal predators. The devastating results are everywhere: an epidemic of raw reactivity, fractured attention, and tribal "kangaroo courts" that tear apart our societies and estrange our families.Blending sharp historical analysis with insights from modern cognitive neuroscientists, this book is an urgent manifesto for self-inquiry. It calls for a foundational rebellion: moving from blindly reacting to our biology to consciously governing it. Volume One ends at the ultimate human frontier, showing that true freedom begins by simply, deeply, becoming aware. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. What happens when Jesus sits down for a lively conversation with Neuroscience? In this warm, surprising, and often humorous book, two great wisdom traditions meet for the first time. Neuroscience explains how the primitive brain uses fear, judgment, certainty, and the measuring mind to protect us. Jesus answers with his radical vision of love-without condemnation, superiority, or finding fault.Their conversation sheds new light on ancient teachings that remain urgently relevant today. Why do we judge one another? Why are institutions so resistant to change? Why is loving an enemy so difficult? Could Jesus have understood something profound about the human mind long before modern science could explain it?Drawing upon Brother Pascal's long life as a monk, priest, psychologist, military veteran, husband, and listener, Jesus Unpacks Neuroscience invites readers to reconsider familiar religious ideas through the discoveries of brain science. This is not a book of doctrine. It is an invitation to wonder, laugh, question old certainties, and discover how awareness can free us to choose love over fear. This item is printed on demand. Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The human story with its twists and turns, is full of surprise, shock, loss, wonder, even amazement. It is an awesome journey, although seldom celebrated as such. Here we raise a glass to Awesome. As we listen to these many stories, we are impressed with the variety of ways each finds awesome in their journeys. The book is designed to enable, encourage and celebrate the Awesome Journey. I know after a lifetime of listening that my own journey from darkness to light is, in some way, shape or form, everyone's journey. The convoluted nature of the human story was made visible in the labyrinthSo, I risk being open about my own dark times. Then, I collect from friends their own 'awesome journeys.' I then lay out a path toward not only awesome but gratitude, blessing and resilience. Section One we engage fully the concept and the experience, celebrating the fascinating diversity of 16 persons. Section Two describes five detours and byways to avoid, such as the typical negative mind games people too often play. Section Three provides a panorama of 16 avenues designed to help us stay on track for living with wonder and amazement. The appendix provides the real-life story of the awesome journey of one awesome woman. This book is an unlikely minor miracle, full of serendipity in both the creating and the telling. Dr. Paschal Baute is a storyteller and dream-catcher, the blind veteran who writes books for his veteran community and has authored 40 books, with themes of gratitude, resilience and wellness. He has served his country over 23 years, enlisted and commissioned< active and reserve, all branches, longest as a navy chaplain. He earned his doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania in 1967. He was honored to be inducted into the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame Honor Roll, Class of 2018, for both outstanding military service and outstanding community service. The citation read in part: 'Dr. Paschal Baute, service to his community is voluminous, a testament to his love of God and an insatiable passion to help others, even after being diagnosed by the VA as 'catastrophically disabled' (legally blind).' He is married 53ears to the same wife and is blessed with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lexington, KY 40509.…
