Hardcover. First Edition [1993], so stated. First Edition [1993], so stated. Very Near Fine in Fine DJ: The Book shows only minute spine lean; the binding remains perfectly secure; the text is clean. The DJ is flawless; the price is unclipped; mylar-protected. Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (…9.5 x 6.4 x 1 inches). xvii, 219 pages. Illustrations, appendix, notes, bibliography, index. Weight: 1 pound, 5.6 ounces. Hardback with DJ. I was engrossed in this book from the moment I opened it. I had half expected to find it to be wildly speculative and mostly imaginary. I was surprised. This book did not promote the conspiracies or conspiratorial thinking, but rather looked at each "possibility" with more of a researcher's dispassionate approach. Obviously not written by someone with their own agenda, but rather a a product of a researcher's inveterate curiosity. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the Romanovs. This book is one of the best written about the disappearance and unsolved questions of the last tsar and his family and I have read many! Michael Occleshaw is a British historian and he apparently has researched deeply into the subject for this book. He speculates a great deal about which of the missing daughters who might have survived and believes this to be Tatiana who possibly was saved by the English eccentric and adventurer Richard Meinertzhagen. I found a lot of information in this book that I haven't seen anywhere else - including the best known, like Massie's books. It was first published in 1993 so naturally many of the events of the recent years in this field are not included but still it's one of the most fascinating and informative I`ve encountered. I recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the Romanov mystery.

Text body clean and unmarked thr…oughout the book, except for ex-owner name on the bottom of the first fly leaf page. The great moments of scientific discovery all too often occur in the far reaches of the laboratory, hidden from the public eye. The Transformed Cell changes all that. Dr. Steven Rosenberg. Chief of Surgery at the United States' National Cancer Institute, provides an extraordinary glimpse inside the working of the scientific process. Moreover, he tells a story of hope; of a devoted doctor's exciting advances in halting the spread of cancer. Dr Roseberg's quest began in 1968, when he encountered a patient, whose cancer had mysteriously disappeared. Could the body itself, he wondered, have mounted a massive immune response to the cancer? From this point on. Dr Rosenberg set out to see if immunotherapy, and later gene therapy, could succeed where surgery, Chemotherapy and radiation had failed. The first successes came in 1984, when viewed a patient's X-ray and saw evidence of tumour shrinkage. Since then, Dr Rosenberg has made headlines around the world for his pioneering treatments that have saved many lives. With a cautious optimism, he tells of the potential of these treatments and of his most recent experiments, the first in history in which foreign genes were inserted into humans. Deeply personal, often anecdotal. This book is written with clarity, compassion and contagious excitement. Over-all an excellent and neat copy. Extra charges for over-sea shipping as the book weight is over 500grams. See photos for more information.
