Comes with a handwritten letter on Dalrymple Press headed paper, from Robert Harling to 'Dear Gordon.' A beautifully produced book showcasing the designs in colour reproduction of Eric William Ravilious, British painter, designer, book illustrator and wood-engraver who grew up in Sussex, and is particularly known for his watercolours of the South Downs. Near fine in near fine dustjacket.

Large 4to. pp. 54; illustrations. Limited to 750 copies, this one marked out of series. Usually found bound in blind stamped yellow cloth with a dust wrapper reproducing a diamond patterned geometric design by Ravilious, repeated on the end papers, this copy is bound in a specially produced cloth which is woven (not printed) with the same design. With a leather title label and contained in a paper covered slip case which uses the same design (printed). Possibly one of a few trial or presentation copies.

This special edition is accompanied by 'an Impression of the Alphabet Mug Design printed from the original copper plates. This design being in the possession of Wedgwood & sons Ltd and is numbered number 40/50'. This impression is in Fine condition with original tissue guard and folder present. Accompanied by the original publisher's Flyer and Prospectus for this title in near Fine condition with one crease to the latter where it has been previously folded.
