The second group XIII through XXI are titled "The Arts of Europe and Islam." The book is in wonderful condition inside and out with a few tiny markings in red ink on the second page of the table of contents, consisting of two c-shapes and three words all written very small. The jacket is rubbed a bit esp. at the edges with small chips at top and bottom of spine and a one inch tear in upper left corner of book jacket front.

The book is unpaginated but the last line of the book at the bottom of the index states "This volume contains a total of 448 pages". There are over 150 pages of B&W plates. Professor Zarnecki is the leading authority on medieval sculpture in England. This volume (in 1979) assembles for the first time his major articles on Romanesque art published from the last twenty years. From the library of Professor Ilene Forsyth, professor emerita and alumna of the University of Michigan and a published author as well. Her husband George Forsyth, was chairman of the art history department at Michigan from 1947 to 1961, when he became director of the university's Kelsey Museum of Archeology.
