Published by the legendary and now-defunct Eel Pie Publishing (the press founded by Pete Townshend of The Who), this is a genuinely special and unique multi-signed copy of a classic work of jazz photography, with six of the photographs signed by the featured legendary jazzmen: - Art Blakely, two signatures (a short inscription + signature + date of 5/17/82 in blue marker on b&w playful snap of himself alongside Dizzy Gillespie backstage at the 1978 Middlesbrough Jazz Festival in Hatfield, England, p.46 + a full-page colour photo signed in black marker on p.121) - Ray Brown (a b&w photo in a recording studio signed "Best Wishes" + signature in black marker, p.70) - Dizzy Gillespie (a full-page colour gig photo with a short inscription and signature in black marker, dated '86, p.89) - Clark Terry (a half-page b&w photo taken at a 1977 big band date in London signed in black marker with a trumpet drawn underneath, p.90) - Lionel Hampton (a full-page b&w photo taken while playing drums at a gig - signed in black marker, p.96). All signatures are clear and free of smearing. Book in good undamaged and clean condition with unmarked text, title page shows private owner's name (stamped) and erased pencil price. Signs of regular wear: a touch of yellowing around the edges, thumbing and small marks from handling, gentle parallel creases on 4 leaves, likely a printing fault (crucially, none of the signed pages are affected; please refer to our photos). Firm binding, clean outer page edges; book is free of foxing/spotting. Boards show short creases in the upper outer corners, a short blue line on the front panel.
