Ajouter au panierSoftcovers. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. Reprint. Undated by the introduction is dated 1977. New edition of the first edition from 1948 and with a new introduction by Sorley Maclean, foreword to the 1948 edition, reviews and letters. 69pp. Hamish Scott Henderson (1919-2002) was a Scottish poet, songwriter, communist, intellectual and soldier. He was also a catalyst for the folk revival in Scotland and a folk song collector. He took part in the Desert War in Africa, during which he wrote his poem Elegies For the Dead in Cyrenaica, encompassing every aspect of a soldier's experience of the sands of North Africa. The book is bound in the original cream card covers with green titling on the front cover. The book is in very good condition and the contents are secure and clean with a small light stain near the bottom of pages 16 and 17. A one-word correction has been made to the last line of the introduction and the front free endpaper has been signed by the author thus: "Best wishes Hamish Hamilton". The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear and there is a large (coffee?) stain on the back that has caused some wrinkling. SIGNED COPY.
