See images for condition. About the book >.>.> The paintings collected in this book were made by Rob Woolner between 2000 and 2016 in his studio in the Blackmore Vale in North Dorset. The geographical specificity seems important. These works are not directly figurative but they are, nonetheless, clearly grounded in a deep engagement with the artist's physical environment: a textured and worked landscape of limestone, clay, greensand, water, and the accumulated scars and scratchings that millennia of human and animal habitation have inscribed onto the surface of the earth. To visit Woolner's studio is to understand how much of his work is built up in the same organic way, and even out of the same materials. Bits of bone, rusted metal, wire, fossils, seashells lie around the light-filled room, a former farm building whose use might have changed but whose function as a working space has not. Paintings in various stages of completion are hanging on the walls or stacked against them. The smaller constructions or assemblages in low relief that he ref.

Still sealed in publisher's packaging, new. Noises is inspired by contemporary Jamaican dancehall ritual. Made in collaboration with a group of British Jamaican women in Birmingham, Ribeira recreated scenes from dancehall culture at the participants homes. By embracing the impossibility of fully understanding this cultural expression so very different from her own, Ribeira playfully dissects the ideas of femininity and sexuality within the performances. Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : New. Etat de la jaquette : New. 1st Edition. Signed and numbered "18th" (of the first 70 copies) by Ebeling, in black ink, to the title page. Edition of 700 copies. Photographically illustrated paper covered boards, with the title to the spine and blue endpapers, in a black screen printed dust jacket with photo corners and an original photograph (10cm x 10cm) tipped in to the lower side. Photographs and text (in English and German) by Philipp Ebeling (translated into German by Antje Joel). Edited by Philipp Ebeling and Olivia Arthur. Designed by Melanie Mues. 4to (28cm x 24.5cm), pp.80, colour and black and white images throughout. From the publisher: "His first book is a deeply personal photographic essay on growing up in a small village in the north of Germany and a meditation on the relationship contemporary Germany has with its past. Documenting the quiet, precise way in which people conduct their lives, the obsession with making everything new and the almost fearsome stability Ebeling takes us into the life of a hard-working German village. In 'Land without Past' contemporary portraits of family and friends are interwoven with images of everyday life in the village from the war years, bridging a gap in personal history.".
