Ajouter au panierNo place, no date, "Thursday", to an unknown "Dear Sir", offering ".any service in my power, to mark my high esteem, for the memory, of my much lamented friend, your late honored President." He has written "R. Academy" near the salutation, for Royal Academy (of Arts). The president would have been Benjamin West, who served from 1792 to his death on March 11, 1820, a Saturday, or Thomas Lawrence, who succeeded West and died on January 7, 1830, which was a Thursday. Sotheby, who knew everybody, was not a member of the Academy, but his friend Lawrence produced a chalk portrait of him, now in the National Portrait Galley. One page, 5 lines, in Fine condition.
