(Betts: 29-63) First edition. Emanuel Lasker was Chess Champion of the World for 27 years. He won the title in 1894 at the age of 25 in a match against Seinitz, who was then 57 and had been champion since 1866. Lasker also won a return match against Steinitz in 1896, and held the title until beaten in a match in 1921 by Capablanca, then 32. The reader is referred to the books and magazines of the period. The date of publication is in disagreement with Betts who has it dated 1956. The stated date to the title is November, 1955. Condition: Heavy foxing through out, corners gently bumped, some sunning to board edges else a good to very good copy.…

Hardcover. Etat : Fine. 4th Edition. ix+242 pages with frontispiece, illustrations and index. Royal octavo (9 1/2" x 6 3/4") bound in stiff pictorial boards. Foreword by Ralph Binnewirtz and Michael Negele. Updated with additions by Bob Meadley and Paul Dunn. Fourth edition, limited to 250 copies. The fourth edition brings the bibliography up to June 2009. The authors searched through most of the newspaper chess columns in Australia and New Zealand to try and bring forward as much detail on chess as possible. Numbers around brackets at the end of each item are the item number the three booklets published between 1978 and 1989 by van Manen.
