Binding slightly worn, rubbed, bumped, and shaken. Former owner's signature ("Rosabelle De Long") to upper margin of front pastedown. Carmen is recognized as one of the greatest of all 19th century operas. Composed in 1873-1874, it was first performed in Paris at the Opéra-Comique on 3 March 1875 to a libretto by H. Meilhac and L.
