Am Beispiel der Mikroelektronik in der DDR stellt die Arbeit das Scheitern der stalinistischen Kommandowirtschaften in einen direkten Zusammenhang mit den Internationalisierungstendenzen der Weltwirtschaft. Trotz waghalsiger Manöver gelang der DDR kein wirkungsvoller Durchbruch des westlichen Technologieembargos. Und auch eine «eigene Globalisierung» im osteuropäischen Wirtschaftsverbund RGW misslang.
