Paperback. Etat : Very Good. Flo, a bright young child migrant, found her youth blighted as her 'training' was only for menial domestic work. By her mid-teens, she was working 200 miles from Perth on a remote farmstead and treated harshly. Later, despite a failed marriage and with three children she made a life but could not res…olve her feelings of injustice at having unnecessarily lost her birth family and country. She wrote her lifestory as therapy. "Flo" demonstrates what can be achieved through determination. The book includes a chapter researched by Editor Anne Bott which details what Fairbridge management in England knew about the inappropriate treatment of children at Fairbridge, Pinjarra, when Flo was young. But no action was taken then. The research gives historic validity to Flo's life story. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Etat : Very Good. Geoffrey Raynor was born in Carlton, Nottingham and joined the LNER as a messenger boy at the city's Victoria Station in 1939. He progressed to train register lad, signalman, controller and finally senior accident clerk at Doncaster. Geoff's life as a railwayman is described in detail in the context…of his Nottingham childhood and marriage to Janet, who faced cancer. Geoff, still active in his new community, retired to Lawford, Essex. He describes travelling with the first group of Prisoner of War relatives allowed to visit Thanbyuzayat Cemetery in Burma, where his brother is buried. The attention to railway detail makes this book an entertaining read and provides a fascinating lesson in social history. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition.
