Monumentale e rara opera in grande formato (cm 40,3x30), pagine 12 con appendice ed indice delle tavole + 98 TAVOLE a doppia pagina riproducenti i disegni di Jacopo Bellini acquisiti dal British Museum nel 1855. Legatura rigida in lussuosa tela marrone ruvida originale con titoli e fregi in oro e a secco al piatto e al dorso, belle sguardie decorate e tela editoriale anche alle cerniere interne. Minima escoriazione alle cuffie e a 7,5 cm. di una cerniera e macchioline di scoloritura a un angolo dei piatti. Di J. BELLINI (Venezia 1396?-1470?) restano due importanti album di disegni di altissima qualità (tardogotico-rinascimentale e alc. con elementi di costruzione prospettica), tra i più antichi esempi conosciuti di disegno autonomo, che venivano utilizzati come repertorio di modelli per la sua bottega. Il primo (1430-1450 circa) di cui non abbiamo la riprod., si trova al Louvre di Parigi e il secondo (1450-1460 circa) al British Museum di Londra. qui magistralmente riprodotto. Cimelio dell'editoria Alinari, che proprio ai primi del '900, grazie a Vittorio, arricchì la sua attività con volumi illustrati dalle fotografie appositamente realizzate. Rarissimo, citato in alcune bibliografie, ma non censito da SBN.

Near Fine. Robert Whitelaw [1827-1920], a native of Scotland, opened the first foundry of the Whitelaw Company in 1856 in a town west of Woodstock, Ontario. He later moved the foundry to Woodstock, was a busy businessman, and active in community affairs. In 1874, the town offered Mr. Whitelaw $8,000 to assist his planned expansion of the company; if the business remained in Woodstock for eight more years, the loan would be canceled. In addition to agricultural machinery such as steam engines and threshers, his factory made sawing machines, cheese making machines, castings and fire hydrants. Some time after the expansion, the Company became known as Whitelaw's Oxford Foundry and Engine Works.
