Title starting to peel off, but only slightly. Covers rubbed and bumped and one corner with damage - please see photos. Paper toned, but no foxing. No markings or inscriptions, apart from the following: ffep has an ownership inscriptions, reading: " The gift of Mr Wiliam [sic] Lamb to Eliza Hopwood Anno Do 1688" followed by some squiggles - please see photos. An additional page has been pasted in before the ffep, which reads: "This book came into my possession in September (27th) 1887 when my grandmotherSusannah Skinner died at Lowfield House; she had it from her brother Redshaw Spring's library, on his death (186?) a dealer came from London & offered 1/- each for all the books he cared to take, & he paid the trustee (S. Skinner) just over £20. Susannah Moore Kirton Lindsey 1938".…

Bound in contemporary full calf. Condition: GOOD. Joints and hinges intact. Covers rubbed with some losses at the corners. Lacking front blank leaf, else complete. Textblock toned with a few spots and a couple of worm tracts in the margins. Extremely scarce. Notes: Anthony Horneck (1641-1697) was a Church of England clergyman. He shared the orthodox protestant belief in witches, contributing an appendix of Swedish cases to Joseph Glanville's Saducismus Triumphatus (1682, second edition). In the 17th century, both the Lutheran and the Reformed orthodox parties displayed an unparalleled enthusiasm for Rabbinic and Hebrew studies; this was the strongest feature of Horneck's intellectual equipment and led to the award of a Cambridge DD in 1681. Much of Horneck's literary output was devoted to the rules of life for Christians. In 1693, he became chaplain to William III and the first of a series of court chaplains and German preachers in the Savoy who played a distinguished role in British religious life for most of the eighteenth century.…
