Dabei stellt die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Pyramidenberg als individuelle Begräbnisstätte ein strukturgebendes Denkmodell seiner künstlerischen Arbeit dar. Zusammen mit Niermann produzierte Niedling 2010 den Dokumentarfilm The Future of Art. Darin entwickelt Niermann die Idee eines Pyramidenbergs als Kunstwerk, das zugleich die individuelle Bestattungsstelle eines Sammlers ist.
