Illustrated jacket has 1/4 inch loss at spine head, 1 inch closed tear on front, and several smaller edge tears. Protected from further wear by a clear mylar cover. Small vintage bookstore label inside front, reading Boekhandel Winants Heerlen. In this book, orange on top relates to the recovery period after WW2 and represents national unity and resilience, loyalty to the monarchy (as orange was the color of the royal family), a historic reset of taking back the orange-white-blue flag that had been co-opted by the Nazi's, and a celebration of freedom like when after liberation in 1945 cities were filled with orange as a sign of joy (orange fever).
