From the blurb: "Old Sporting Prints gives a detaiied, ìllustrated history of sporting pictures, from the works of James Seymour and Thomas Rowlandson to later paintmgs by such artists as Henry Alken and the Wolstenholmes. The author, Ralph Nevill, was one of the greatest authorities on sporting pictures, and hìs selection of ìllustrations for this volume is thus of the highest quality. An additional attraction to collectors are the extensive lists ot prices that pictures fetched in the early 1900s: they provide an interesting eontrast to those fetched today! This bookwill appeal not only to the expert and the collector, but also to anyonc interested in the sporting life of Georgian and Victorian England. The colour and verve of the Stage Coach. the excitement of the Turf, the thrill of the Chase, come alive again through the 36 fine prints, reproduced here in full colour, along with 16 pages of black and white illustrations."
