Hardcover. Etat : new. Hardcover. A new/old, comprehensive, and relevant framework of lifelong education and learning for the remaining 21st Century. A recent groundbreaking study (Nature, 2025) generally confirmed the insights of tradition (i.e. 'the four stages of life' from child to mature adulthood) that as people age the brain as well as human lifecycle undergoes universal basic stages of transformation. This all gives weight to two key arguments of this book. One is that human learning is a lifelong process grounded primarily in actual experience refinable by further thinking framed by particular social contexts (i.e. 'the eight pillars of lifelong education' embracing also adult education and later life learning). And the other is that the cross-cultural experience of human ageing remains an invaluable resource for future human sustainability. But like the 'systems thinking' of many indigenous knowledge systems (with their respect for 'tribal elders' and natural cycles, etc.), the general loss of value for the experience and tacit knowledge of older people has arguably been a key yet reversible factor in the general demoralization of modern society and education. In this way changing cultural systems have ignored and repressed what has always defined the human potential - the capacity to transform experience into relevant knowledge. We investigate here how the lost and hidden (or rather 'forgotten') collective as well as individual 'reservoirs of direct experience' (and the Axial Age traditions of 'inner wisdom') can yet again be harnessed to sustainably transform collective as well as personal futures. This book also addresses some of the biggest challenges to (and deepest mysteries about) life and human nature. It does so to the extent that the human lifecycle might be approached as a natural antidote also to demoralized modern society, digital illusions of experience, and the future misuse of AI. We investigate here how the forgotten collective as well as individual 'reservoirs of direct experience' linked to the stages of the human lifecycle can still be harnessed to sustainably transform collective as well as personal futures. Hardcover. Etat : new. Hardcover. From American Author, Photographer, Woodworker, and former group home and shelter worker Travis Wild comes a story about empathy for oneself and others through life unexpected twists and turns."Far from here there is a mountain, and on top of the mountain there is a tree which stands along and strong in a place where some say a tree should not be."What makes a tree a tree? What makes you a you and me a me? It's easy to see what makes us different and that makes it harder to see what makes us the same. Is it where we are or what we've been through? Or is it something small, simple, which comes from deep inside? The Place A Tree Should Be is a book about a tree that grew in a place you wouldn't think it could. It is about growing and finding beauty even when it was lonely and scary. It's a book about how even when we're far from each other we can communicate, we can help or hurt, encourage or discourage, and that choice is ours. The idea behind The Place A Tree Should Be came from working with kids, understanding the hard realities they face, and made those struggles into a palatable, easy to digest, fun story - because it's hard to talk about the real truth sometimes, and that's okay, but it doesn't mean we ignore it because it's hard. Many children often feel like they're being talked about, talked to, and this is especially true with "at risk" kids in shelters, group homes, and foster care. They are often talked to like they are the problem they face and need fixing. This book is meant for every child, but specifically to show them they aren't a problem but rather are resilient, confident, and strong heroes of their own story which is filled with potential - the same potential inside all of us waiting to be discovered. Buch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - One Swiss who became a good Australian while retaining a strong love of his country was Henry Alexis Tardent who established a family in Queensland in 1887 . Tardent was intensely active in politics, agriculture, and literary activities. He acted as an adviser in the early 1890s to the drafters of the Constitution. In 1898 he became a friend and supporter of Andrew 5 who was the first Australian Labor Prime Minister. Around 1911 he helped the Government prepare the Act to establish a Citizen Defense Force. - Gough Whitlam (1975) Following the 2017 Declaration of Intent on a Strategic Dialogue signed off by the Swiss and Australian governments there was renewed interest in the 'story of Henry Tardent'. In her 1989 book The Swiss in Australia Wegman noted that Tardent 'became the most influential Swiss settler in Australia due to his involvement in moulding the Commonwealth's constitution'. Also lauded in 'ALP legends' (as reported by Whitlam in 1975), the problem is that no-one has previously gone to the trouble of detailing or more adequately explaining Tardent's contributions to his adopted homeland. So. to correct some newly arising 'misconceptions', we investigated Tardent's 'untold story' in depth - an inquiry focused on a request from the Swiss Alliance Australia to look at the question of Tardent's 'contributions to the drafting of a Swiss-influenced Australian Constitution' (and related 'model of democracy'). Our fascinating account here further documents the alignment of the Tardent story to the historical challenge of the modern Australian Society to overcome its enduring 'colonial cultural cringe' - including in and beyond the 1975 Constitutional Crisis and the 1999 Republic referendum result. This book describes and discusses some particularly relevant details and contexts of how Henry A. Tardent's initial and further ongoing advice to Sir Henry Griffith and his concerned 'Qld group' (especially re: the 'double majority rule' democratic safeguard) was generally embraced in the 1891 Constitutional Convention. This was then developed and refined in further drafts (especially the draft presented to the 1897 Convention), before being the focus of successful 1890s State referendums prior to the 1901 Federation enactment. Tardent was perhaps effectively a 'founding father' also of some important related imperatives up to the end of his life - of both Australian cultural nationalism and multiculturalism simultaneously. And he was a significant pivotal contributor himself (as well as adviser also to such influential early figures as Andrew Fisher and Ted Theodore) in the foundational emergence of the Australian Labor Party. We further explore how and why Henry A. Tardent's story is perhaps more important today than ever before.…

Hardcover. Etat : new.
