This book weighs the weighty responsibilities and diverse duties which fall under the purview of the Chief of Anatomical Works, a post recently vacated at the prestigious institution, the Faculty of Medicine in Paris. The ideal candidate must be an expert in all aspects of human anatomy, from instruction to research, and should have the administrative capabilities to manage a busy department. The author, an expert in the field, discusses the ways in which anatomical knowledge gained through research and observation can be utilized in a practical, hands-on environment in order to further the education of students and to contribute to the advancement of science. Given the high standards of the institution, this book finds particular relevance today as the Faculty looks to appoint a replacement who can not only continue the esteemed legacy of previous Chiefs but also bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the role.
