Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book details the findings of an expedition led by the author during 1907 and 1908 on behalf of the Arnold Arboretum. The author spent time in China's Hupeh and Szechwan provinces and collected a range of vertebrates which are described in this work. Of particular focus are the 29 spec…ies of fish collected, including three species new to science. The author also obtained a large collection of birds and mammals, including reptiles and amphibians, of which ten species had not previously been described. The expedition was carried out with the cooperation of Mr. E.H. Wilson, a renowned botanical collector, who sought the author's zoological expertise in order to gain a comprehensive overview of the local fauna. The author consulted with experts at the time to identify and describe many of the species and the findings published here add to our understanding of Chinese vertebrates and their distribution. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
