In 1554, Brà s returned to the Netherlands, and became the pastor of the Reformed Church in Tournai. He was a gifted preacher and his sermons attracted large crowds. However, his activities soon brought him into conflict with the Spanish authorities, who arrested him and sentenced him to death. Brà s was executed in 1567, at the age of 44. Despite his short life, Brà s left a lasting legacy. His writings helped to spread the Protestant Reformation in the Netherlands, and he is considered one of the most important figures in the history of the Dutch Reformed Church.
