This book transcribes and presents records of baptisms, marriages, and burials from the parish registers of Parkham, North Devon, covering a period of over two hundred years, from the year 1538. These documents provide valuable information on the lives of ordinary people living through historic events, famines and wars that shaped the community over many years. Historically, the documentation of an individual's life within a parish was first recorded at their baptism, which frequently took place shortly after birth. The parish register would then record their marriage or the marriage of their children, and finally their burial. This book can therefore provide insights into family history and connections between different families linked by marriage and geography. The registers faithfully record births, marriages, and deaths through plagues and famines, periods of economic boom and times of hardship. The records, originally handwritten by the Parish Clerk in a beautifully ornate script, have been meticulously transcribed and interpreted to bring the past to life, providing valuable insights for historians, genealogists, and anyone with an interest in local history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
