Established in 1867 as a Mount Saint Agnes Academy, the institution gained the authority to offer collegiate degrees in 1890. By centering their instruction around the ideal that women should be equal parts intellect, domesticity, and devotion, the academy sought to balance the importance of education with the duties expected of women in the eyes of society. The spirituality, resourcefulness, devotion, wisdom, and charity espoused in this institution serve as a model to follow, ultimately driving the reader's pursuit of perfection and comprehension of God's will. It is the author's belief that this process will help women achieve the inner peace necessary to raise strong families and strengthen their communities, contributing to the greater good.
