The building was begun in the 5th century and has been added to and elaborated on over many years. This volume focuses on elements built between the 13th and 16th centuries. It is a fascinating insight into the development of the Spanish Gothic style and the lives and beliefs of those who built and used this remarkable space, with extensive historical notes on each piece. The author shows how this monument reflects the evolution of the country itself, from the Reconquista to the Golden Age.
