He is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian, and lecturer. He studied French literature at the Sorbonne, art history at the University of Toronto, and painting and graphics at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. His mural, Hockey Knights in Canada, Les Rois de l'Arène, can be seen at Toronto's College subway station, where the Montreal Canadiens face the Toronto Maple Leafs across the tracks. His 1980 portrait of Margaret Atwood is in the collection of the Portrait Gallery of Canada. His images of the Queen of Canada, moose, and maple leaf flag are pop icons of Canadian contemporary art and this book is an illustrated monograph on his life and work up to the early 1990 s. This book contains 130 reproductions of paintings, drawings, prints, and collages, including 85 in full colour. There is an extensive chronology, bibliography and exhibitions list. The author, Bogomila Welsh-Ovaharov, is a Professor of Art History at the University of Toronto. This large format book, bound in tan cloth, 161 pages measuring 298mm X 244mm, is in fine condition. The dust jacket is in near-fine condition and is now in a protective mylar wrap. A gorgeous and whimsical work of art. This large and heavy volume will require additional postage.
