Born in Glasgow, Henderson moved to Canada in 1910. Living in Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, he was commissioned by the University of Saskatchewan to paint a series of portraits of individuals of the Western tribes. Pictorial dust jacket depicting portrait of an old man on the front panel, orange spine whit black and white letters. Excellent condition with no major issues. Endpapers including a photograph by James Henderson facing print of his handwriting, rear endpaper includes a collage of newspaper articles by Rosie Riess, 1952. All edges trimmed. Leaves clean and bright with numerous illustrations, landscapes, portraits, photographs, etc. Tight binding. Near fine condition. James Henderson (1871-1951) was born in Glasgow, Scotland and his works are influenced by Scottish Impressionists. He moved to Canada in 1909 and became well-known as a painter of First Nations portraits.
