Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. The prophetic movement has impacted churches in the last century, inspiring believers with a renewed expectation that God still speaks today. Along with genuine prophetic ministry have also come those who would like to capitalize on the desires of God's people to hear His voice. Many churches are caught between either embracing prophetic claims without discernment and biblical structure, or rejecting prophetic ministry altogether, calling it heretical. Amanda Beverly offers thoughtful insight into the challenges facing the contemporary prophetic movement while defending the prophetic's ongoing role within the church. Drawing from Scripture, ministry experience, and insight, this book addresses critical issues including: prophetic character and accountability; witchcraft, manipulation, and control; spiritual discernment; timing; prophetic intercession and responsibility; and rogue prophets that find themselves disconnected from the church body. Instead of calling for the removal of prophetic ministry from the church, Beverly argues for its reform. Returning to the biblical foundation of humility, holiness, discernment, and submission to the Word of God. The church still needs prophetic voices. The valley of dry bones still needs the breath of life. It is not a matter of whether God still speaks, but whether His people are ready to hear His voice with faithfulness.
