When starting in 1975 as the German Workshop on AI (GWAI) in Bonn, the meetings were primarily intended as a forum for the G- manAIcommunityandthus, overtheyears, alsore ectedthedevelopmentofAI researchinGermany.Rightfromthebeginning, thegoalofthemeetingshasbeen to bring together AI researchers working in academia and industry to share their research results and interests in the eld of arti cial intelligence. In 1993, the name of the meeting changed to its current formAnnual German Conference on Arti cial Intelligence, or KI for short. Since KI-94 in Saarbruc ken presentations have been in English and the proceedings have been published in the Springer LNAI Series. With that the meeting has become a truly international event, and still is in 2002. Thisvolumecontainstheproceedingsofthe25thAnnualGermanConference on Arti cial Intelligence. For the technical program we had 58 submissions from 17 countries and from all continents except Australia. Out of these contributions slightly less than 30% (20 papers in total) were selected for presentation at the conference and for inclusion in the proceedings. Thecontributionsinthisvolumere ecttherichnessanddiversityofarti cial intelligence research. They cover important areas such as multi-agent systems, machine learning, natural language processing, constraint reasoning, knowledge representation, planning, and temporal reasoning. The paper On the problem of computing small representations of least common subsumers by Franz Baader and Anni-Yasmin Turhan (Dresden U- versity of Technology) stood out for its exceptional quality and the program committee selected it for the Springer Best Paper Award. Congratulations to the authors for their excellent contribution.

Ajouter au panierTaschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The AI conference series is the premier event sponsored by the Canadian - ciety for the Computational Studies of Intelligence / Soci et e canadienne pour l' etude d'intelligence par ordinateur. Attendees enjoy our typically Canadian - mosphere -hospitable and stimulating. The Canadian AI conference showcases the excellent research work done by Canadians, their international colleagues, and others choosing to join us each spring. International participation is always high; this year almost 40% of the submitted papers were from non-Canadian - searchers. We accepted 24 papers and 8 poster papers from 52 full-length papers submitted. We also accepted eight of ten abstracts submitted to the Graduate Student Symposium. All of these accepted papers appear in this volume. The Canadian AI Conference is the oldest continuously-held national AI c- ference in the world. (ECCAI's predecessor, AISB, held meetings in 1974, but these have since become international.) Conferences have been held biennially since 1976, and annually since 2000. AI 2002 again joined its sister Canadian computer science conferences, Vision Interface and Graphics Interface, enri- ing the experience for all participants. The joint meeting allows us to stay - formed about other areas, to make new contacts, and perhaps to investigate cross-disciplinary research. This year the conferences was held on the beautiful campus of the University of Calgary, and many participants took the opportunity to tour nearby Ban and the magni cent Rocky Mountains.

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The biennial Brazilian Symposium on Arti cial Intelligence (SBIA 2002) - of which this is the 16th event - is a meeting and discussion forum for arti cial intelligence researchers and practitioners worldwide. SBIA is the leading c- ference in Brazil for the presentation of research and applications in arti cial intelligence. The rst SBIA was held in 1984, and since 1995 it has been an international conference, with papers written in English and an international program committee, which this year was composed of 45 researchers from 13 countries. SBIA 2002 was held in conjunction with the VII Brazilian Symposium on Neural Networks (SBRN 2002). SBRN 2002 focuses on neural networks and on other models of computational intelligence. SBIA 2002, supported by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), was held in Porto de Galinhas/Recife, Brazil, 11-14 November 2002. The call for papers was very successful, resulting in 146 papers submitted from 18 countries. A total of 39 papers were accepted for publication in the proceedings. We would like to thank the SBIA 2002 sponsoring organizations, CNPq, Capes, and CESAR, and also all the authors who submitted papers. In particular, we would like to thank the program committee members and the additional referees for the di cult task of reviewing and commenting on the submitted papers.
