Randläsuren, Faltspur, leichte Gbrsp. - Recklinghausen, (1833 - 1910), studierte Medizin in Bonn, Würzburg und Berlin, wurde 1855 an der Univ. Berlin mit der Arbeit De pyaemia theoriis promoviert und war 1858-64 Assistent Rudolf Virchows am Pathologischen Institut in Berlin. 1865 wurde er ohne Habilitation o.Prof. der pathologischen Anatomie an der Univ. Königsberg, 1866 in Würzburg und lehrte 1872-1906 an der Univ. Straßburg. R. arbeitete über die Zusammenhänge von Entzündungsprozessen und den weißen Blutkörperchen, über die Drainagefunktion der peritonealen Lymphgefäße und über verschiedene Knochenerkrankungen. In seiner Studie Ueber die multiplen Fibrome der Haut und ihre Beziehung zu den multiplen Neuromen (1882) beschrieb er erstmals die nach ihm benannte Recklinghausensche Krankheit (Neurofibromatose), eine vererbte Erkrankung des Nervensystems. - Bezold, (1836 - 1868), studierte an der Univ. Würzburg Medizin und war seit 1857 in Berlin am Laboratorium von Emil Du Bois-Reymond tätig, wo er sich vor allem mit physiologischen Forschungen beschäftigte. 1859 wurde er a.o. Prof. der Physiologie in Jena und war seit 1865 wieder in Würzburg. Im Laufe seiner Forschungen gelang es B., den Einfluß des nervus splanchicus auf den Blutkreislauf nachzuweisen. Die Compensation des Herzfehlers war lange Zeit gewiss eine vollständige gewesen, aber bei der Grösse des Herzfehlers, reichte selbst die mässige rheumatische Erkrankung aus, die Compensation zu stören, die Herzfunktion unzulänglich zu machen. Es war er herber Frostwind, welcher als Nachzügler des Winters in der Nacht des 2. März über das fränkische Land dahinzog, er hatte den Lebenshauch von den Lippen unseres Freundes hinweggenommen. ."
