With three Original Leaves from the First Aldine editions of Aristotle, 1497; Euripides, 1503; and the Septuagint, 1518; lacking the Crastonus leaf. With new text by Barker, fifty illustrations and four leaves showing four different Greek Aldine types. Nicolas Barker's scholarly study includes chapters on the views of Robert Proctor; Greek Exiles in the West; Greek Types before Aldus and their Sources; the Aldine Greeks; The Technique of Typefounding; The Achievement of Aldus. Designed by Stephen Harvard, and printed and bound at Meriden-Stinehour. "Leaf books' are not a genre I care for as such, admitting that they have sometimes been the occasion of good and useful work.
