Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. Book in very good condition, light edge wear, includes attached record. Stated first printing. Dust jacket in good condition . The dust jacket has a few inch to two inch top edge tears that have been taped on the inside with clear tape. Included with this book is an original autograph on a photo image card that was sent to Alice Brock to sign through the mail years ago by Daniel Montemarano. Mr Montemarao is a collector of books and autographs for over 62 years, he has over 24,000 signed items , but this is the only Alice Brock item that he has. Also included are two 6"x4" original color photos . An original color photo of Arlo Guthrie playing the guitar, time stamped on the back of both photos. Showcases the legendary artist in action, not posed for . The second photo is a picture of the church that Alice Brock lived with her husband at his former church from 1963 to 1971. Arlo Guthrie later purchased it., made famous by his song Alice's Restraunt. He made it a spiritual center and arts foundation. Alice May Brock passed away at 83, "Guthrie wrote in a Nov. 23 post to his Facebook page, noting that while the death of his life long friend wasn't unexpected," it's still pretty challenging. Alice May Pelkey was born on Feb. 28 1941, in Brooklyn, though she like to tell people that she had been conceived in Provincetown. Her mother, Mary Dubrovski Pelkey, worked in real estate and her father, Joe, was a printmaker. Alice moved to Manhattan's Lower East Side, where she met Ray Brock, an architect and sculptor. They married in 1962, and the next year they moved to Stockbridge, Mass. They both worked at the Stockbridge School, a private institution--he as an art teacher, she as an librarian--where they befriended Mr. Guthrie, a student there and the son of folk singer Woody Guthrie. Ms. Brock opened the Back Room at the urging of her mother, who also helped the couple acquire a deconsecrated Episcopal church, which they turned into their home and which is also part of the story told in "Alice's Restaurant." Included are several articles on Alice and Mr. Guthrie. A really nice lot to add to anyone's collection.
