There is a contemporary gift inscription on the front free endpaper, and there is a bookseller's tiny ticket on the rear pastedown. A rare copy of one of the shortest limited edition runs of any of Jeffers books. Very good+ in a near very good slipcase. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Dust jacket spines variably browned and slightly chipped at ends, two with repairs, the jacket sides a little soiled but mostly clean; bindings with minor fading and soiling (rear hinge of "Landing" cracked). Still, an appealing group, quite clean and fresh internally, with only minor textual imperfections. These five editions of Robinson Jeffers' work represent the first appearances of many of his most famous poems. Jeffers (1887-1962) was a poet and environmentalist, whose "inhumanist" philosophy has made his work as enduring as it was initially controversial. In the present works, published at the zenith of his notoriety, he grapples with themes of human consciousness and powerlessness, often set against the rugged coast of his beloved Big Sur.
