Made by order of Mazarin for the instruction of the young Louis XIV. The plates are copies in reverse after Otto van Veen's emblems in 'Q. Horatii Flacci Emblemata.' Paper loss in left lower, backed with comtemporary paper. A tear in the top margin, closed with acid free archival tape. A crease in the top of the image area and in the top and lower margins.
