Each plate dated in ink with the artist's initials: "G. J. W." Most plates produced by "Newbery & Wilday" , plus a few additions by: "W. J. H. Leverton". Slight foxing to text and illustrations. Contemporary half calf, carefully rebacked at some time in the past. Rubbed green cloth covered boards with dulled gilt title to front board. Corners and spine in black morocco. Rubbed gilt titles to spine. A well preserved copy of this scarce publication. ** William Galsworthy Davie (1842-1915), was born in 1842, in Landkey, Devon. His father, Henry, was 53. He had two daughters with Mary Davie between 1876 and 1880. He died on 26 October 1915 in Maidenhead, Berkshire, at the age of 73.
