Ajouter au panierHardcover. Orange cloth book with gilt letters and color illus. laid on front cover; [24 pp.], BW illus.; in original gray cloth clamshell case with cream title block on front cover. A single poem crafted by Beat Generation poet Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997), supplemented by BW photographs by William Webb. The poem first appeared in "The World," issue #24, Winter 1972. This copy is #86 of 100 hardcover copies, and is NUMBERED AND SIGNED BY ALLEN GINSBERG on the colophon page at the rear of the book. The clamshell case that houses the book includes a title block that commemorates the 25th anniversary of American Poetry Review on April 30th, 1999. The case was crafted by an artist in Philadelphia. And on April 30th, 1999, the Philadelphia newspaper announced that a roundtable discussion of poetry would be held at the Institute of Contemporary Art as part of the American Poetry Review 25th anniversary. It could well be that someone who attended already had the 1972 signed copy of Ginsberg's book; this person made it into a presentation copy with the addition of the custom case; and the person handed it to a another worthy someone on this date. This book did come to us from a facility in Philadelphia. It is a magnificent and unique find for any Beat poet fan. Cover of clamshell box has a printed label as follows: "American Poetry Review, 25th Anniversary, April 30th, 1999" VG++ (NUMBERED AND SIGNED BY GINSBERG AT REAR OF BOOK).
