Ajouter au panierSoft cover. Etat : Good. Coward, Noel. Blithe Spirit: an improbable farce in three acts. French's Acting Edition. London: Samuel French, copyright 1941. Paperback, Good. Blue card covers, a little rubbed and marked, evidence of previous small labels to front and spine, small white label on reverse. Frontispiece b/w photograph of set. 94pp. including property plot with diagram and lighting plot relating to first performance at the Piccadilly Theatre London. Some pencilled marginalia, otherwise contents clean and bright. The play concerns the socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is haunted by the ghost of his annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira, after the séance. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles's marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost. The play was first seen in the West End in 1941, creating a new long-run record for non-musical British plays of 1,997 performances. RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions. All images are of the actual book for sale - no stock images are ever used. Thank you for looking at this listing.

Ajouter au panierLater printing. Cast Signed Copy. A very unusual book that belonged to actress Mary Lawrence (wife of film director Delmer Daves) who appeared in the La Jolla California Playhouse production of the play that took place July 5 Ð 10, 1949. The book is inscribed to her by the playÕs sponsor Gregory Peck, the playÕs director James Neilson, and the cast Mildred Natwick, John Emery, Tamara Geva, Jacqueline de Wit, Ellen Corby, Warner Anderson. Additionally, the cast members have each written their names and address on the rear pastedown. Mary Lawrence has extensively scored and annotated in pencil her part in the play which is that of Mrs. Bradman. Some light stains to the front board, very good without dust jacket.
