If you have a fascination with bridges as I do, or better yet, if you build them, then this is the book for you, I guarantee it! I am pleased to offer you a very large book, titled: Bridges, A Study in Their Art, Science and Evolution, by Charles S. Whitney. The title page goes on to tell us that the book is Illustrated with photographs and drawings of old and new bridges of many lands, 400 of them according to the List of Illustrations. This very large hard cover book (9 ¼ x 12 ¼ inches, 365 pages) was published by William Edwin Rudge, Publisher of New York, dated 1929 and a First Edition with the same date on title and copyright pages. This book is bound in dark blue oxford weave cloth with gilt decorations and titles, on cover and spine. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is certainly some rubbing to the covers, particularly along the spine as a result of normal handling of this heavy book. The back cover has a white streak across the bottom quadrant. The corners and spine tips are also bumped and bruised but only faintly tattered, especially at the top of the spine. Inside, conditions are much better. There is a small, inked former owner s name on the front endpaper but that was the only mark I saw in the book. The pages and many plates are clean and bright, from cover to cover. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding feels solid, with just the slightest give to the covers. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
