The binding consists of three thread attachments, therefore the pages move up and down by a few mm. A flick through of the pages has revealed no tears or inscriptions but this cannot be guaranteed as not every page was examined. There are water stains on the inside front cover consistent with the stains on the dust jacket. The cover is red cloth board with a black and white oval picture of Burns on the front. Esslemont Ltd., Queen Street Tea Factory, Aberdeen dated 17th August 1933 and consisting of about 100 words in which Esslemont thanks Pearson and all at Dunecht for making the fete a success, he also expresses his personal thanks and hopes Pearson will accept the book as a memento. Order form for the book loosely inserted. Peter Esslemont (1870 Ð 1961) was president of Aberdeen's Liberal Association and a writer. Apart from his work on Burns he also wrote about the life and achievements of Gladstone. Weetman John Churchill Pearson, 3rd Viscount Cowdray (1910 Ð 1995) was a businessman and polo player who inherited Dunecht in 1933 following the death of his father. About fine. About fine.
