Preface to the first edition, preface to the revised edition, directions for using the car-builder's dictionary,double column, illustrated, frontispiece (Bay window Parlor car, Pennsylvania Railroad), advertisements. This revised and enlarged edition has the number of engravings increased from 811 in the original first edition to 2,188. All drawings that appeared in the previous edition also appear in this edition, but 156 of the 811 engravings have been made over to obtain larger or better views. The book is divided into essentially six classifications including: Cars, Car-Bodies, Car-Body Details, Furnishings, Trucks, and Truck Details. The book was published to provide Mechanical Engineers and train manufacturing workers with invaluable information for each train car and its components.
