Papers of the Peabody Museum of American Archaeology and Ethnology, Volume XLI, number 2. Reprint first published in 1954. The author of this source seeks to determine the factors which are responsible for the conversion of individual Navajo to one or another religious sect. This source treats principally the activities of the Mormons, who are settled among the Navajos at Rimrock, and a less conspicuous but also influential sect which he designates 'Galilean.' Through the analysis of survey-sample results and of life-history materials, his interpretation of Navajo conversion experience rests largely upon psychological rather than sociological foundations. Condition: Corners bumped and rubbed else very good.
