Pelliot was one of the pre-eminent Sinologists of this time and is best known for his work on the medieval manuscripts discovered in the Dunhuang caves. In this chapter he analyzes a fragment from those caves, the Shang shu shi wen (????), Pelliot fonds 3315 at the Bibliotheque Nationale. Scarce, with no copies of the extract or its source publication in the trade.
