Ajouter au panierErstausgabe. XXXXVI, 312 Seiten. Ein gutes Exemplar in einer stabilen Bindung. Etwas stockfleckig aber insgesamt textsauber. Das Buch stammt aus einem Nichtraucherhaushalt. Franz Bopp (* 14. September 1791 in Mainz; 23.

Old ownership's signature on the front paste-down. Scarce first edition of this groundbreaking work to trace the common origin of the grammatical forms of Sanskrit, Greek, Latin and German. Concentrating on a historical analysis of the verb, Bopp provided the first reliable material for a history of comparative languages."He thereby established the science of comparative linguistics [.] Bopp's importance lies in the fact that he was no mere grammarian but considered philology to be an essential part of the history of civilization: out of their vocabulary he drew an accurate picture of the material and intellectual life of the earliest Indo-European people" (PMM).
