The author sought to create a compilation of the progress and insights gathered in the field of geology in New York over the course of the 19th century. The book is divided into several sections, corresponding to geologic provinces of New York, each of which is subdivided further into the periods at which they formed. It also includes a comprehensive bibliography of all articles on New York geology published up to 1901. The focus throughout is on providing an overview of the geology of New York, and the resulting map itself became an important tool for further research in the field. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
