India is a country inhabited by cultural groups and is one among the few nations of the world noted for their tribal concentration. There are about 427 tribes in the country. Owing to the very nature of their life close to or in the forest and further their all round exploitation by the dominant communities they still remain isolated from the mainstream of the country's economic and social life. With a view to developing these tribes especially with the aim of poverty eradication several developmental initiatives have been launched since 1950s. The book probes the social economic political and cultural profile of the Moiety clan belonging the Chenchus (a semi nomadic Adivasi tribe living in the Eastern Ghats).
