Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Neuware - 'Once a Clown, Always a Clown: Reminiscences of Dewolf Hopper' offers a fascinating glimpse into the life and career of one of the most celebrated figures of the American stage. As a master of operetta and comedy, DeWolf Hopper shares a treasure trove of anecdotes from his decades-long career in theater, spanning the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This memoir details Hopper's experiences navigating the vibrant world of Broadway and vaudeville, providing a firsthand account of the evolution of American entertainment. The narrative captures the spirit of a bygone era, featuring encounters with legendary performers and providing behind-the-scenes stories of famous productions. Hopper also reflects on his enduring connection to the classic poem 'Casey at the Bat,' which became a staple of his performances and a significant part of his public identity.Written with wit and charm, the work serves as both a personal history and a broader cultural record of the performing arts. It is an essential read for enthusiasts of theater history, biography, and the golden age of American comedy, preserving the legacy of a performer who truly lived by the credo that the show must go on.This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
