Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. One of several editions of this dictionary first published in 1681 and long considered a classic reference work. Volume 1 is [4], 500 pages and Volume 2 424 pages. In contemporary full leather binding with gilt tooling to spine and red title piece, edges powdered red. Typical wear to head and tail of spine and corners, joints cracked but strong, very sound and clean internally.

He went to Paris, where he pretended to be from Florence, and had a great success as teacher of Italian and became secretary and interpreter of the King. He published an Italian-French dictionary with the title Dictionnaire italien et françois (1681), and a Grammaire italienne (1710), which were long time considered classical reference works and went through numerous editions.
